Guilford College stands at a pivotal moment, calling upon its community to unite in support of its enduring mission. The “For the Good of Guilford” campaign embodies this collective effort, aiming to secure the College’s financial stability and uphold its commitment to transformative education.
Launched on March 1, 2025, the campaign sets forth two primary objectives:
Raise $5 million in unrestricted cash contributions by June 30, ensuring a balanced budget for the fiscal year and meeting accreditation requirements set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Double the alumni giving rate from 5% to 10%, striving for 1,800 alumni donors. This increase not only reflects alumni engagement but also strengthens the College’s position when seeking grants from foundations and other philanthropic sources.
Progress is evident. As of May 2025, the campaign has garnered over $3.3 million, with significant contributions from alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the College.
Interim President Jean Bordewich emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “This campaign is about more than finances; it’s about reaffirming our shared commitment to Guilford’s values and ensuring that future generations can benefit from the education and community that have shaped so many lives.”
The campaign’s success is bolstered by events like Guilford Madness, the College’s annual spring giving campaign, which recently netted over $585,000.
